So time for a day of several new happenings. First on the list was taking one of my work suits to the cleaners around the corner from my apartment (quite literally, very convenient) which is run by a nice old lady. Not sure when it'll be done, but at least I know it will be sorted. After that was my weekly food and other necessities shop. The real new venture of the day came after that.
Now, being brave is not going to a whole new country, or starting a new job. Being brave is getting a hair cut in a foreign language. Personally I always find it awkward to get my hair cut, and that was in English. But I had gotten the necessary vocab and advice from the people at work, and had found a local barber to go to. Not only did I get a cool looking haircut, and get it shampooed as well, but also came this close to getting a shave as well (as in literally 'shave and a hair cut, two bits'). One note on this point was that I had two barbers to choose from, one would have been 1000yen and the other 3000yen. I went for the 3000 because that and the shiny, modern looking sign, at least guarantees quality and the staff there were really nice, so got that out of the way.
After returning to the apartment for lunch and change the laundry load (and a quick finishing touch with hair gel) I headed back out into Akihabara for some other buying needs. Not all anime based merchandise this time though, Now I had to get a couple of electrical devices and semi necessary bits that I needed: in this case, a second hard rive because, with all the photos and film I'm taking here, my laptop is full to bursting.
I then came back, dropped the stuff off, and headed out again because I had to send a parcel to a friend back home (shout out!) and on the way back, wandered through one of Akihabara's less brightly lit areas. No nothing dodgy, just a street that had some previously unexplored shops and found some interesting places.
For my meal this evening, I decided to try and do an english favourite: bangers and mash, because, well, I wanted/needed to try something other than rice based meals every so often.
