So after the hassle of yesterday, today was a marked improvement - why you ask? Because this morning they loaded adobe illustrator onto my office computer, and told me to spend all day learning how to use it. For those of you who may not know, Illustrator is the boring cousin of Photoshop - it can do most of what photoshop can do, make your own art work and designs from scratch, and thats about it. Good for work stuff, it must be said, but then snoooooooooooooooore.
Now there was one problem with todays program - the version of illustrator loaded onto my computer is in Japanese. Unlike photoshop where I've got the chance to practice in english first, I have to figure out all the buttons in Japanese and memorise them. For those of you who just went 'ouch' you're damn right its 'ouch'.
But the real trouble came at the end of the day, when I was told to duplicate a pamphlet on illustrator, from scratch, with only a days worth of youtube notes to help - that translates as cruel and unusual punishment. But luckily I got to skip this, in favour of helping with more English translations which took me through to closing time at the zoo.
After I had finished work, I headed over to my Dad's office branch (which is nearby, lucky for me) and spoke with the people there who have been helping me out since before my arrival here in Japan. I needed their help on some important looking letters that had come in the post, but it was also really good to catch up with them, as I haven't seen them for a while. They still had work to do so I couldn't stay very long, but a good chat was worth it all the same.
