I'm not what one would call a superstitious man, but there is something about the number 13 that just screams bad voodoo on the way. In my case it came in the form of doing bugger all all day. Actually worse than that - the sempai took me to help set up a web seminar recording, didn't really give me anything to do other than untag the slippers, and then sent me off back to the office again. This meant that I didn't get to have lunch with anyone today and just had to buy a bento box and eat at my desk (which I'm not sure is very standard around the office. I've seen people do it but not sure if it is recommended). And after getting given a mind numbingly simple piece of photoshop work, I spent the rest of the day doing Japanese practice. All in all, probably a day I definitely a rubbish day.
UNTIL that is around 5.30, when I received an email from one of the sempai from my old kendo club, wanting to meet. I had been trying to arrange a meeting with this person for a while since we both are based in Akihabara, but we've both been crazy busy, but she emailed today saying she would be free to meet up for a drink, and I was game for that.
She took me to a nearby building devoted entirely to the sorts of restaurants one would only go to with a friend. We then spent the good couple of hours catching up, talking about places to go in Japan, and me getting schooled when she ordered the first pint and I waited for a water (alcohol is not my strong point). But it was absolutely the pick me up I needed after the day I'd had.
