I woke up this morning and was immediately very sad. Why? Because I realised that after spending half an hour trying to confirm I had the right milk, and tracking down english cereal in the super market, I woke up today and realised I had no spoon to eat it with. Have you ever tried to eat cereal with chopsticks? It's not fun.
Still after that the day got better. A service man came around and arranged for Internet to be provided in my apartment. So this is the first post that I have written without having to buy a crappy Starbucks cookie 1st. And then a delivery man came and gave me my Japanese bank card. Now remember yesterday when I ended by saying that I had missed a delivery from the bank? Well a) that is clearly a different card for online transactions and b) after showing the delivery man the receipt left over (don't ask me to explain, it'll take too long) he said that as long as I was present tomorrow from 9 a.m. that the card would be re-delivered. Once again god bless the Japanese.
In the afternoon I spent an hour with the friend who gave me my stamp. She was very, Very kind and took an hour out of her day to help me go over the large pile of official looking papers I got in the post and couldn't understand. Long story short, I now have paid subscription for gas and electricity, and I half understand about the internet providers (some of you may not know me, but lets just say technology isn't my strong point). I also got a chance to use my new japanese suica (rail pass) card and a Japanese post box........Once again this is cool in a way only a Japan fan will understand.
I also spent some time this afternoon using my washing machine. And after hiding behind my fridge door for an hour while it ran, I've concluded that I now know how to wash my clothes. Drying is another matter, but i'm sure i'll figure that out later.
For supper tonight I was feeling lazy so after going to a department store and buying a spoon (along with several other bits I forgot) I went to the gyu-don place I had visited before. So all in all, a productive day I think.
