September 13th 2012 - Day 7

Yep nearly 1 week since I left home, and so much has happened already. Can't believe how productive I managed to be, well just goes to show you've got to press forward with these things.
That being said, today wasn't very eventful. I went to a nearby coffee shop this morning and got a pancake for breakfast, but after that I had to go back to the apartment and wait for a) the gas man to come and get that running in the apartment and b) the delivery of my fridge and washing machine. Both arrived and were sorted with no problems (until I try to use either) so now I have hot water and Ice....not at the same time but you know what I mean. Haven't dared use the washing machine yet though, saving that problem for tomorrow.
All this got done by 1.30, so i was able to go out and grab a quick nikkuman (meat bun, Japan's answer to the m&s sandwich) for lunch, before wandering into some nearby shops for a bit, and doing my first food shop in Japan. Unfortunately most of the cooking utensils I require for anything good won't be delivered until next week and I can't be arsed to by more, so meal options are slim (I'm about to go buy a bento box and heat it at home. Because I can). But was able to tick a couple of things off the list for now. While I was out I also managed to get a Japanese Suica card - a rail pass, effectively the same as an oyster card, but that can also be used in subway shops, apparently.
Unfortunately I discovered only a few minutes ago that the bank I registered with the other day tried to deliver something (most likely my credit card) today during the time when I was out - The One Freaking Time when I wasn't in and didn't expect anything today. And since the branch is now closed, and I have no internet to properly contact the people who have been helping me here, I get to spend tonight panicking about it. Not a great end to the day but if I figure out how to use a Japanese bath then it will at least end on a high note.
