April 6th 2020 - Day 2657

So this is the situation in Japan right now - the government is planning to declare a state of emergency tomorrow, but this does not mean a lockdown. The Japanese government doesn't have the power to instigate a lockdown, so it will just mean that local governments can "strongly request" people not go outside etc. Basically, it means not much has changed from the situation of the last month, although maybe a few more companies and businesses will start closing up for a while, and maybe people will stop going outside en-masse as they have been.
For me and my company, well it mostly means we had a lot of translation requests to do with places that are planning to close up. Was a bit busy but not too severe, so I could leave at a sensible hour and pick up some more supplies in advance of the announcement.
