June 8th 2013 - Day 271

So for the most part today was a usual saturday, with not a lot out of the ordinary. Or Was It?
For starters I had to entrust my cleaning lady with a slightly larger load (of clothing) than usual as I headed off for school in a completely different part of Tokyo. School today was much more interesting for two reasons, the main one being that for once we were doing something I didn't know already and found quite helpful, namely what to do at a hospital (I don't need to go but always wise to have that information to hand). And also, before the lesson started, one of the volunteer teachers and I arrived early and, in a nearby park, did a bit of music practice for our upcoming performance at next weeks school event. He'll be playing guitar while I sing, and I got to experience first hand what its like to be one of those musicians in the park practicing without a care in the world. Got to tell you, apart from some timing issues, it was a lot of fun.
Then on the way back from school I took a brief window shopping stroll through and Akihabara market, well mostly window shopping there was a rack of cheap Hawaiian shirts and I was like "oh yeah". Got to be honest, given the climate these days, totally worth it.
Then there was the usual lull of relaxation before heading off for kendo. Once again practice was a bit more unusual because it was the last one before tomorrows grading test, so I had to give it my all when sparing with all the sempai. And take it down a lot of notches when sparing with one of the kids, which was awkward to say the least. Partly because I wanted to try and offer advice in spite of the fact that I am the worst kendo practitioner ever, and also its just weird fighting a child without accidentally being insulting.
But on the plus side, the guy from the office wasn't there tonight, and I got to zoom off for Yakitori. And accidentally gate crashed an office party. Actually surprisingly wanted to chat to me, and they were all really friendly, apart from the point where due to a mix up in the conversation they accused me of being homosexual. There was even, a couple of girls who I think were checking me out behind my back, so that made me feel good about myself.
