December 21st 2012 - Day 106

I think when the mayans predicted that today would be the end of the world, they meant that some people would be having a crummy day. Like me.
The morning wasn't so bad, mostly just some english translation checks and some revision, nothing very exciting but what can you do.
In the afternoon though the design group and I headed over to the studio to film a web seminar. Mostly this meant me sitting in the corner and trying to be quiet (at which I seemed to fail) but I did get the opportunity to learn the Japanese business card exchange process - yes it is an actually, semi ritualised event. This is a big thing you need to learn if you want to be a part of the Japanese business world, so I was pleased to learn that. And of course being around cameras and filming usually makes me happy.
And then came the sudden plummeting down turn, and the reason why I only got home 30 minutes ago. They wanted me to edit the footage tonight. Some sort of deadline, I don't know why. All I know is that I enjoyed editing the first part, but then due to the complications of messed up audio, bad quality pictures, and the final exportation taking over an hour, it became decided less fun. Especially when after I had finished preparing everything and finished the videos, I was told to make tiny alterations, which meant I would have had to re do the whole thing and export the files for another hour, had they not taken pity on my and told me I could leave. The real bit that was hacking me off wasn't that the software was slow or that I had nothing to do in the middle, it was just the fact that if the sempai had taken a proper look before I had exported the video, I would have been in the clear and finished it no problem. It just another part of the reason why I'm dreading spending christmas in that office, even though it is a three day weekend now.
