Nikko trip part 2
I wish I could say my night's sleep was enjoyable but something just meant I didn't sleep very well. Hard to say if it was an unusual bed, a different environment, or the alarm siren blaring out at 3.30 a.m. telling people to be careful of building because of an earthquake warning; hard to guess. Don't worry, if there was an Earthquake, I slept right through it anyway.
Ryoukan breakfasts are distinctly Japanese; usually the staple diet of Rice, fish and other bits. Although I also had bacon and egg for some reason (very difficult to eat with chopsticks) and the whole thing was actually rather tasty.
After breakfast had gone down, I re packed up and headed for the train station. Rather than heading straight for home though, I headed some direction I'm going to say was north, and arrived at Omochanomachi. The phrase 'silent as the grave' could not have been more appropriate, as the whole place was dead silent even at mid day. But the only reason I went here was to visit the Bandai museum - everyone will have heard of Bandai at some point, as they are the ones who fund all the best toys in the world (specifically Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, more widely known as power rangers). It was a very fun place, filled with tons of old toys, classic gaming systems, and half a 1/1 scale Gundam in their lobby. I felt distinctly old in here, my mind racked with waves of nostalgia as I looked at all the old megazord toys and thought back to when I begged my Dad to buy them for me. 'I remember that' passed through my mind more times than I could count.
But after seeing everything to be seen I headed back to the train and began the long slog home, taking a very old train all the way back to Tokyo, then the underground back to the Apartment. Nothing more exciting happened to me after that apart from sorting out the rubbish and failing 5 times to apply a new film cover to my phone (its hard for some people). Oh and burning my supper and smoking the kitchen out, that was fun.
