Another day at the office. In the end I could probably say it was better but with a rough start. It did help me realise why I've been so frustrated this week. First thing I had to do was send an in-office email, with no idea how to compose a formal e-mail, what vocab to use or even honestly say whether I understood the first email. That was when it dawned on me - The reason i've been a bit hacked off lately is not because I haven't been given anything important to do, its because I don't feel I've been taught the necessities yet e.g. how to make an email or what to do when someone else has logged into your computer when you aren't there and you can't log in because you've never been given a user name....hypothetically of course. In the end I finished the email and sent it off, only to be told by the sempai who wasn't telling me what to right that the email was 'very funny' in a way that sounded like 'are you serious?'. Guess they'll have to let me off for first offence.
Anyway the day got somewhat better from there, because all I was given to do today was practice Japanese particles (connection words similar to 'at' or 'in' etc). It didn't help that the first set of instructions were head achingly confusing, but it got better because after a while the sempai had to leave and I was basically left to my own devises. Which in a work situation is how I do best. Don't get me wrong I always appreciate help, but if the help isn't very helpful then its easier for me to do things my way. So I basically spent all afternoon making my own particle cheat sheet to help with future projects.
Now lunch was with a couple of new people and the sempai who looks after me. I mentioned before that I'm not great at talking to one woman, so imagine how much fun I had trying to talk to two. Fortunatly though they were very friendly and nice (as everyone in the office seems to be) and it wasn't so hard to talk after a bit. Although we got a bit stuck when they wanted to talk about blood types, which is supposedly a popular conversation topic out here (hell if I know why) but at least I had the sempai to bounce off of for that.
One last note is that theres a work party tomorrow so don't expect a new post until saturday.
