October 10th 2012 - Day 34

One thing I have forgotten to mention about Japanese Rush hour. The worst part isn't squeezing into the tiny spaces of the train cabins, no its when you have to change stations. There are so many people, going in every direction, in a small space, that the only way to get through is to remember the 5 D's of dodgeball. You can't wait for everyone to get past or you'll miss the next 3 trains, so you have to duck and swerve through the gaps in the crowds to get to the right place. I haven't hit anyone yet, but I just know its only a matter of time.
Another day at the office. The only reason today was better than yesterday was because I was at least doing something productive, namely practicing my Japanese all day. No seriously they just had me correct some of my own Japanese mistakes (because It was so easy for me to spot the first time that I just left them there) and then had me spend all afternoon watching language videos on youtube. So there was something else not totally pointless: seeing what information videos are like. The trouble is that I know I'm in a training period and they aren't going to give me anything complicated. That I can handle, but I just have to hope that this is all steering me in the right direction. Otherwise I shall be hacked off at something.
At least I met a new, really friendly guy for lunch. A nice chap actually, we had seen a bunch of the same anime and it was easy to get along with him (apart from his speed of talking. That was fun to keep up with). And I did switch on my TV a minute ago and see adolescent dudes beating the snot out of each other with glowing fists of fire - does Japan know how to entertain or what?
